07/13/06 - IKO UK Ltd. Acquires Marley Waterproofing

Antwerp, BELGIUM, July 13, 2006 - Leading roofing and waterproofing supplies producer IKO UK Ltd. announced today its acquisition of venerable UK waterproofing products manufacturer Marley Waterproofing. The acquisition, filed with the British Office of Fair Trading in May, became final this week.

IKO, the Canadian based manufacturer of residential and commercial roofing products, entered the European market in 1972, when it constructed a shingle manufacturing plant in Ham, Belgium. The company now owns 10 plants in 6 countries across Europe, including IKO UK Ltd., in Lancashire.

"We're very pleased to have the staff and facilities of Marley Waterproofing join the IKO family," said Hartley Koschitzky, head of IKO's European Operations. "When you have the opportunity to make an investment in a company like this, with nearly 2 centuries of success in its history, it only serves to enhance your business. We're very committed to our European markets, and we know that the Marley Waterproofing brand will contribute to our continued success."

Marley Waterproofing has been one of the United Kingdom's leading manufacturers of waterproofing products for more than 170 years. Located in Kent, the company produces a wide range of membranes and supplies for commercial roofing projects, and employs 85 people at its manufacturing facility.

06/26/06 - MW/MB Fiberglass Plant Hits Full Stride

Clarksville, TN, May 26, 2006 - MW/MB, LLC, the Tennessee based fiberglass manufacturer, is producing fiber at its Clarksville plant and has started to send shipments to its customers according to one of the plant's owners, IKO Industries Ltd.

The plant is a joint venture between roofing products manufacturers IKO Industries Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta; and TAMKO Roofing Products Inc., of Joplin, Missouri. The Clarksville facility opened its doors in late 2005, and began shipping wet chopped fiberglass to the business partners in April of this year.

IKO Industries and TAMKO are evenly splitting the plant's production for use in their primary roofing businesses. The fiberglass strands are used to create fiberglass mat, which is the base backing or substrate for residential asphalt roofing shingles.

"We're very pleased that we are able to start taking deliveries from the plant. The MW/MB team is very focused on producing a quality product for us," notes Warren Schultz, Eastern US Regional Manufacturing Manager for IKO. "By producing fiberglass within our own operation, we have better control of our supply of raw materials. It allows us to be more cost effective, which ultimately benefits our customers."

Asphalt shingles are the most commonly used roofing product for US homes today, with more than 12.5 billion square feet of products produced annually, enough to shingle 5 million homes each year, according to industry statistics.

06/26/06 - IKO Midwest Is Open For Business

Kankakee, IL, May 26, 2006 – Leading asphalt shingle producer IKO Industries Ltd. is ready to open the doors on it’s new state of the art manufacturing plant in central Illinois. IKO Midwest, an arm of IKO Industries Ltd. of Calgary Alberta, is nearing completion on its new 150,000 square foot facility in Kankakee, with production scheduled to begin next month.

IKO began construction on the site in the summer of 2004. With the work now complete, the new facility will produce a full line of IKO’s fiberglass based residential asphalt shingles, mainly for markets in the US Midwest. The Kankakee operation is the fifth US based production facility for IKO. The company already owns plants in Wilmington Delaware; Chicago, Illinois; Franklin, Ohio; and Sumas, Washington.

"We're excited to get production under way in Kankakee, and the plant is an integral part of our future plans in the US market," said Warren Schultz, Eastern US Regional Manufacturing Manager for IKO. "Getting to this stage requires a lot of support from people outside the company, and we're grateful for the involvement and welcome we've received from the people and the officials of the City of Kankakee."

Schultz also notes that an official grand opening in the community is scheduled for late this summer.
