The IKO Cambridge Cool Colors Plus Shingles Can Elevate a Home’s Appearance, its Solar Reflectance and Potentially its Energy Efficiency Too.

IKO designed the Cambridge Cool Colors Plus shingles as an important variation to the popular IKO Cambridge architectural shingles. They are specifically engineered to be used to comply with California’s Title 24, Part 6 cool roof requirements, to help reduce a home’s carbon footprint, potentially reduce home energy bills and possibly increase property values.

Their beautiful color blends boast an SRI of 20 or greater, which can boost a roof’s reflectivity by 25% over the Title 24, Part 6 minimum of SRI 16 for steep sloped roofs. This means that homeowners who reside in Los Angeles City and County, where cool roof reflectance requirements are in effect, now have a greater choice of cool roofing shingles that comply with these standards.

How did we achieve this?

The secret is in the granules.

To achieve a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 20 or greater, we embed surface granules that are specially designed with infrared-reflective pigments to transmit less of the sun’s energy or radiant heat into a home’s attic.

This helps a roof and the home it protects stay cooler than if it were roofed with conventional shingles. Exactly how much energy can be saved will depend on the area’s geography, climate and, utility rates; and the home’s HVAC system and other factors.

IKO’s exclusive, advanced color-blending technology has virtually eliminated the nuisance of mismatched color lots for you.

The shingles in IKO’s Cool Colors Plus lineup are identical to IKO Cambridge laminated architectural shingles, with their generous 5-7/8″ exposure and the IKO “Advantage” size that gives you the “True Square Advantage” of yielding exactly 100 square feet of coverage with three bundles. Each bundle contains 60 shingles. Some other brands provide less coverage per bundle, so you’d have to buy one or more extra bundles just to make up the difference. That can really add up and waste material.

You can offer homeowners a stunning array of color blends to suit their home’s style, from rustic and casual to sophisticated and elegant.

Homeowners no longer need to sacrifice curb appeal to comply with the more stringent Los Angeles City and County cool roof reflectance requirements of an SRI of 20-plus. The Dual Grey color blend offers the additional benefit of blue-green algae resistance.

Complementary IKO UltraHP® high-profile hip and ridge cap shingles are available to protect vulnerable roof areas and to create a truly stunning roofline. Only Dual Grey features an algae-resistant granule that helps inhibit discoloration caused by blue-green algae.

Make sure your prospect understands that shingles are just one part of a complete roofing system. Explain how IKO PROFORMAX Integrated Roofing Accessories work with our quality shingles to help protect their family and home.

More than warranty. Even more than cost. IKO’s market research shows that finding the right shingle color that best suits their home’s architectural style and their personal taste is a major factor in most homeowners’ purchase decision and also one of their greatest challenges.

To ensure complete satisfaction, please view several full-size shingles and an actual roof installation prior to final color selection as the shingle swatches and photography shown online, in brochures and in our app may not accurately reflect shingle color, and do not fully represent the entire color blend range, nor the impact of sunlight.
